Meet The Team
Mike Owens has significant experience and expertise in the individual insurance market and, over the past 20 years, has developed substantive relationships with national insurance carriers and large insurance producers. He most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer of a NASDAQ company and founded one of the largest distributors of individual health insurance in the United States. He has served as Vice President of Corporate Development for a Cleveland-based NASDAQ company.
Mike received a B.S. in marketing from the University of Illinois-Chicago, participated in the Economics program at New York University and received his MBA in finance from the University of Chicago. Mike’s primary areas of responsibility include: sales, marketing, product development, and development of new strategic business relationships.
Ben Murphy has extensive expertise and experience in the individual insurance market, specifically in the areas of lead marketing, agent appointment, commission accounting, licensing, business quality issues and system management. He most recently served as Director of Agency Development for a large distributor of individual health insurance. He has also previously served as Development and Compliance Manager for a large holding company.
Over the past six years, Ben has developed diverse relationships with national insurance carriers, top producing agent groups, and significantly enhanced agency operations. Ben is a native of Toronto, Canada, and received a B.A from the University of Guelph in Ontario. Ben’s primary areas of responsibilities include: agency services, commission advance loan programs, new business processing, carrier relationships and strategic operational goals.
Will Freshwater most recently served as Corporate Officer and Vice President of Business Development & Counsel for a large distributor of individual health insurance. He was previously General Counsel/Executive Vice President of Group Dental Service of Maryland and served as a member of its Board of Directors. Prior to that, Will was Associate Director & Counsel, Reinsurance and International Relations, at the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), and Assistant Counsel, International Relations, at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). He also managed advertising review and regulatory analysis at CIGNA Insurance Company.
Will holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Boston College. Will’s primary areas of responsibility include: new business development, carrier relations, agent management, sales & recruitment, and legal & compliance.
